Stop working. Stop school. Stop buying.
Palestinians from Gaza have called for a global strike on 1 October 2024 in an effort to draw attention to the atrocities in the enclave and to unite protest movements to make a change. A global effort is needed to force change.
“We want people to stop their work and protest. Use speakers to air the sounds of the air strikes that are hitting us and our people, so people know what we are living through.” This powerful plea from Gaza’s youngest journalist Lama, along with Dr. Ahmed Al-Mughrabi, former head of the Plastics and Burns Department at Nasser Hospital in Kahn Yunis, is calling for a global strike to be held on 1 October in support of Palestinians in the Strip.
The devastation wrought upon the people of Gaza and now of Lebanon, is not just an Israeli crime; it is a crime by the United States government. The U.S. has provided Israel with the weapons, used our tax dollars to fund their genocide in Palestine, provided intelligence and surveillance, and provided political cover to carry out these atrocities. The time for talking and asking nicely is over. It is time for action and to build our power in the short and long term..
No Work. No School. No Banking. No Buying. This is just the beginning! We will only get stronger.
